This news article (in Dutch) provides coverage of the investigations by Lighthouse Reports that discovered indications of human rights violations by the Egyptian forces, including the Egyptian Navy, raising particular attention to the conflict in North Sinai in Egypt as well as attacks against fishing boats in Gaza. It provides coverage of the permits issued by the Netherlands to Egypt, and the proceedings instituted by the claimants. It strongly challenges the conclusions that the Egyptian Navy is not involved in wrongdoing and that it was reasonable for the government to conclude there was no clear risk of the use of these weapons in internal repression and international law violations, as was upheld by the courts.
