This article reflects on new information released by the Canadian government that indicates there has been an increase in military exports to Saudi Arabia, who are also found to be Canada’s second largest purchaser of military equipment after the United States. It also raises some concerns over the Canadian government’s conclusion that there is no ‘substantial risk’ of that the light armoured vehicles transferred to Saudi Arabia were “used to commit or facilitate violations of international human rights law, international humanitarian law, or gender-based violence”.
