Overview
Al-Haq, al-Mezan Center for Human Rights, and the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights initiated a legal challenge in November 2023 to uncover information on Australia’s exports of arms and ammunition to Israel since the escalation of conflict in Gaza on 7 October 2023. The groups argued that there is a risk of Australian military goods being used by Israel for its operation in Gaza. There is publicly available information about Australian parts and components being used on Israeli tanks, and the F-35 fighter jet, including parts supplied by manufacturers said to be the “sole-source providers” of such components for the F-35 jet.
On 13 November 2023, the applicants discontinued the case for reasons related to transparency.
