Witness Statements

Neil Crompton, the Director of the Middle East and North Africa Directorate at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, makes a statement to address the role of the FCO in the decisions under challenge. It addresses the process by which FCO officials draw together advice given to the Foreign Secretary on the Criteria in relation to export of arms and military equipment to Saudi Arabia including outlining the material upon which FCO advice is based. In particular, it highlights that much of the material it relies on in making these assessments is sensitive for national security reasons and so cannot be referred to in detail in open court.
